Training Squadron Twenty-Three (VT-23) "The Professionals" is a United States Navy advanced jet training squadron based at Naval Air Station Kingsville, Texas, operating the T-45C Goshawk. VT-23 provides advanced strike training to student naval aviators who have been selected for the jet pipeline, teaching them the skills they will need to fly tactical jet aircraft in the fleet.
VT-23's training syllabus is the final major hurdle before student naval aviators earn their Wings of Gold and proceed to a Fleet Replacement Squadron. The Professionals teach advanced formation flying, tactical navigation, air combat maneuvering, weapons delivery, night flying, and the crown jewel of naval aviation training — carrier qualification aboard an aircraft carrier at sea. The T-45C Goshawk is a tandem-seat jet trainer specifically designed for carrier operations, giving students their first taste of the catapult launches and arrested landings that will define their careers in tactical aviation. NAS Kingsville's clear skies and vast training airspace make it the ideal location for the intense flying schedule that VT-23 maintains year-round.
