Officially Licensed US Navy VS-24 Duty Cats Patch — Air Anti-Submarine Squadron 24 Duty Cats Embroidered Patch
Duty Cats — VS-24's anti-submarine hunters of the deep.
Air Anti-Submarine Squadron 24 (VS-24) "Duty Cats" was a United States Navy anti-submarine warfare squadron that operated the S-3 Viking, one of the most versatile carrier-based aircraft in naval aviation history. The Duty Cats were tasked with the critical mission of protecting the carrier battle group from submarine attack — the most dangerous threat to surface ships.
VS-24's Duty Cats flew the S-3 Viking from carrier flight decks, using the aircraft's sophisticated sensor suite — including sonobuoys, magnetic anomaly detection equipment, inverse synthetic aperture radar, and electronic surveillance systems — to detect, track, and if necessary destroy enemy submarines lurking beneath the waves. The S-3 Viking also evolved into a multi-mission platform capable of aerial refueling, surface surveillance, and sea control operations. The Duty Cats' name reflected their constant vigilance — always on duty, always ready to pounce on any submarine threat like a cat hunting its prey. VS-24 was deactivated as the S-3 Viking community was phased out, but the Duty Cats' legacy lives on in the anti-submarine warfare heritage of carrier aviation.
This patch preserves the Duty Cats' ASW legacy.
Perfect For: VS-24 Duty Cats veterans, S-3 Viking enthusiasts, anti-submarine warfare historians, and carrier-based ASW squadron patch collectors.
