This gunner embroidered patch recognizes the crew chiefs and door gunners who man the V-22's defensive weapons systems. Osprey gunners provide suppressive fire during insertions and extractions, protect the aircraft during vulnerable landing phases, and serve as additional eyes scanning for threats.
