Officially Licensed USMC VMM-266 Fighting Griffins Leather Patches - Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 266 (VMM-266) Fighting Griffins MV-22B Osprey Officially Licensed Leather Patch.
Fighting Griffins strength, vigilance, and assault support identity, carried in a durable leather format built to last as long as the mission record.
VMM-266 was activated on 26 April 1983 at Marine Corps Air Station New River, North Carolina, and has grown into one of the Marine Corps most operationally tested tiltrotor squadrons. Originally flying the CH-46E Sea Knight, the Fighting Griffins became the third operational Osprey unit in the Marine Corps when they stood up as VMM-266 on 23 March 2007. Based at MCAS New River under Marine Aircraft Group 26 and the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, the squadron supports the Marine Air Ground Task Force with tactical mobility, air assault, shipboard operations, amphibious raids, joint personnel recovery, and noncombatant evacuation. The Fighting Griffins were the first CH-46E squadron from II Marine Expeditionary Force to deploy to Southwest Asia during Desert Storm, later served in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom, and have continued deploying globally, including to Spain in support of the North African Response Force and to Djibouti in support of Crisis Response Force Africa. The griffin insignia itself reflects the squadron identity of strength and vigilance, making this leather patch a meaningful emblem for anyone connected to that long operational story.
Perfect For: VMM-266 veterans and active aircrew, Fighting Griffins alumni, MV-22B Osprey enthusiasts, MAG-26 and 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing collectors, MCAS New River community members, Marine aviation historians, shadow box builders, deployment keepsake displays, challenge coin and patch boards, reunion gifts, and family members who want a quality leather tribute to the Marines who have moved the assault support mission forward across four decades of global deployments.
Fighting Griffins heritage, stitched in leather for the crews, the maintainers, and the mission.
