**Officially Licensed USMC VMM-265 Dragons Sticker — Marine Tiltrotor Squadron Vinyl Sticker**
VMM-265 Dragons — from the Mississippi Crisis to Marble Mountain, from East Timor to the 31st MEU, these Marines have been breathing fire since 1962. Twenty-seven Dragons gave their lives in Vietnam. That legacy flies on every Osprey.
VMM-265, the "Dragons," was commissioned on October 1, 1962, at Marine Corps Air Facility New River, North Carolina. The squadron's first deployment was domestic — supporting federal operations during the Mississippi Crisis, a pivotal moment in the Civil Rights movement. In 1964, HMM-265 became the first Fleet Marine Force squadron to fly the CH-46A Sea Knight, and in 1966 deployed to Vietnam aboard USS Boxer, flying combat missions out of Marble Mountain Air Facility. The Dragons served as the Special Landing Force helicopter squadron aboard USS Tripoli and USS Iwo Jima, losing 27 crew members to enemy fire over three years of combat. Reactivated in 1977 at Kaneohe Bay, the squadron relocated to MCAS Futenma, Okinawa in 1995 and transitioned to the MV-22B Osprey in 2012. VMM-265 now serves under Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing.
