**Officially Licensed USMC VMM-262 Flying Tigers Sticker — Marine Tiltrotor Squadron Vinyl Sticker**
VMM-262 Flying Tigers — "Every Man a Tiger." From the Iranian hostage crisis to tsunamis in Indonesia, from the jungles of East Timor to the mountains of Nepal, these Marines have been first on scene since 1951.
VMM-262, the "Flying Tigers," was activated in September 1951 at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, as Marine Helicopter Transport Squadron 262 (HMR-262) during the Korean War. The squadron racked up an impressive string of firsts: first Hawaii-based helicopter squadron to deploy to the Western Pacific as a composite squadron in 1976, first to operate jointly with AV-8A Harriers off the same flight deck in 1979, and first permanently assigned medium helicopter squadron in Okinawa since 1978. The Flying Tigers served in Operations Desert Shield/Storm, provided humanitarian relief during Hurricane Iniki, the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, and the 2015 Nepal earthquake. Redesignated VMM-262 in 2013, the squadron transitioned to the MV-22B Osprey and set a record in 2020 for the longest duration flight flown in the MV-22. Based at MCAS Futenma, Okinawa, VMM-262 serves under Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing.
