**VMM-166 SeaElk Party Elk Patch — USMC Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron Legacy Embroidered Patch**
The SeaElk may have cased the colors, but the legacy lives on. If you flew with VMM-166, this party patch keeps the spirit alive — because the Elk never stops celebrating.
VMM-166, the "SeaElk," was a Marine medium tiltrotor squadron based at MCAS Miramar under MAG-16 and 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. Activated on September 13, 1985, as the youngest CH-46 Sea Knight squadron in the Corps, VMM-166 deployed in support of Desert Storm, Operation Restore Hope in Somalia, Operation Iraqi Freedom — including the Battle of Najaf in 2004 — and flew 29 humanitarian missions delivering over 54,000 pounds of supplies to Bangladesh after Cyclone Sidr in 2007. The squadron transitioned to the MV-22B Osprey in 2010 before being deactivated on October 1, 2021, as part of Force Design 2030, after 36 years of service.
