**Officially Licensed USMC VMM-164 Knightriders Sticker — Marine Tiltrotor Squadron Vinyl Sticker**
VMM-164 Knightriders — the squadron that brought the first CH-46 Sea Knights into Vietnam and gave "Helicopter Valley" its name. Their Death Dealer mascot isn't just art — it's a warning.
VMM-164, the "Knightriders," was activated on July 1, 1964, at Marine Corps Air Station Santa Ana, California, under Marine Aircraft Group 36. In March 1966, HMM-164 flew the first CH-46 Sea Knight helicopters into the Vietnam War, landing at Marble Mountain Air Facility from the USS Valley Forge. During Operation Hastings in July 1966, the squadron lost three CH-46s near Con Thien in an area Marines promptly renamed "Helicopter Valley." The Knightriders spent three and a half years in-country, supporting every major operation from Hastings to Meade River. The squadron later served as a CH-46 training unit (HMMT-164) before transitioning to the MV-22B Osprey in 2015 and deploying in support of Operation Inherent Resolve in 2018 and the Horn of Africa in 2024. Based at MCAS Camp Pendleton, VMM-164 serves under Marine Aircraft Group 39, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing.
