Officially Licensed USMC VMM-163 (REIN) Evil Eyes PVC Patch — Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 163 (Reinforced) PVC Patch

The Evil Eyes are watching—VMM-163 (REIN) Ridge Runners in a durable PVC patch, representing the reinforced Aviation Combat Element that deploys with the MEU.

Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 163 (VMM-163), the "Ridge Runners," also known as the "Evil Eyes," is assigned to Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, based at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California. The squadron operates the MV-22B Osprey tiltrotor aircraft, providing assault support transport of combat troops, supplies, and equipment. The "(REIN)" designation indicates VMM-163 Reinforced—the configuration in which the squadron deploys as the core of a Marine Expeditionary Unit's Aviation Combat Element with additional attached aviation assets.

VMM-163 was originally activated on 15 February 1966 as Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 163 (HMM-163) and deployed to Vietnam, where the squadron flew CH-46 Sea Knights on assault transport, resupply, and medical evacuation missions throughout I Corps Tactical Zone. The Evil Eyes earned their reputation in the brutal combat conditions of Vietnam, flying into heavily contested landing zones to insert Marines and extract wounded under enemy fire. Following Vietnam, the squadron served in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and has continued to deploy throughout the Pacific and Middle East.

This PVC patch offers the durability and three-dimensional detail that make PVC patches increasingly popular among military personnel. The Evil Eyes design is rendered in the distinctive VMM-163 style, built to withstand the rigors of deployment on flight suits, tactical gear, and helmet bags. When VMM-163 deploys as REIN, the squadron is augmented by detachments from heavy helicopter, light attack helicopter, attack, and unmanned aerial vehicle squadrons—creating a complete ACE capable of projecting the full spectrum of Marine aviation power from amphibious assault ships.

Perfect For: VMM-163 Ridge Runners and Evil Eyes members and veterans, HMM-163 alumni, MV-22 Osprey community members, MAG-16 and 3rd MAW personnel, MEU ACE deployment veterans, and PVC patch collectors.

The Evil Eyes of VMM-163 (REIN)—reinforced, ready, and watching, carrying the Ridge Runner spirit from Miramar to every corner of the operational theater.
