Officially Licensed USMC VMM-162 Vietnam Throwback Patch — Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 162 Golden Eagles Heritage Embroidered Patch
Honoring the Golden Eagles who flew into the fire in Vietnam.
Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 162 (VMM-162) "Golden Eagles" is a United States Marine Corps MV-22B Osprey squadron with a combat heritage that stretches back to the jungles and rice paddies of Vietnam. This throwback patch honors the squadron's Vietnam War-era identity, when the Golden Eagles flew CH-46 Sea Knight helicopters in some of the most intense combat operations of the conflict.
During the Vietnam War, the predecessor HMM-162 was among the first Marine helicopter squadrons deployed to Southeast Asia, conducting assault transport, medevac, resupply, and troop insertion missions under constant enemy fire. The Golden Eagles flew into hot landing zones throughout I Corps, delivering Marines into battle and extracting the wounded under conditions that tested the limits of both man and machine. The squadron's Vietnam service earned numerous awards and commendations, and the courage of its crews became legendary throughout the Marine helicopter community.
Today, VMM-162 carries that same warrior spirit into the tiltrotor era with the MV-22B Osprey, but this throwback patch ensures the Vietnam-era Golden Eagles are never forgotten.
Perfect For: VMM-162 Golden Eagles veterans, Vietnam War helicopter aviation enthusiasts, Marine CH-46 Sea Knight historians, and USMC heritage patch collectors.
