VMJ-1 was a Marine Utility squadron that provided transport and utility aviation support for Marine Corps operations. VMJ squadrons fulfilled a critical role in Marine aviation, moving personnel, equipment, and supplies across the battlespace and between bases. While fighter and attack squadrons earned the glory, utility squadrons like VMJ-1 kept the Marine Air-Ground Task Force connected and supplied. Without the transport and utility aviation capability provided by VMJ squadrons, Marine operations would have ground to a halt.
