**Officially Licensed USMC VMFAT-101 Sharpshooters F-4 Phantom Sticker — Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron Vinyl Sticker**
The Sharpshooters and the Phantom — 18 years and 125,000 flight hours of turning raw aviators into combat-ready Marine fighter pilots.
VMFAT-101, the "Sharpshooters," was commissioned on January 3, 1969, at MCAS El Toro, California, to train Marine and Navy aircrews in the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II. Moving to MCAS Yuma in 1970, the Sharpshooters became the premier Phantom training squadron in Marine aviation. In 1974, after absorbing VMFAT-201, they became the sole remaining F-4 training squadron and the largest fixed-wing tactical jet squadron in the Corps. The Sharpshooters earned the CNO Aviation Safety Award in 1972 and 1976 while amassing over 30,000 mishap-free flight hours. On May 20, 1987, VMFAT-101 trained its last F-4 replacement aircrew, closing an 18-year chapter that produced thousands of Phantom crews for the fleet.
