**Officially Licensed USMC VMFA(AW)-225 Vikings Sticker — Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron Vinyl Sticker**
The Vikings — record-setting carrier deployments, first tactical jets at Chu Lai, and the first Marine fighter squadron into OIF. VMFA(AW)-225 earned every bit of their reputation.
VMFA(AW)-225, the "Vikings," was commissioned on January 1, 1943, as VMF-225 at MCAS Mojave, flying F4U Corsairs in the Pacific. The squadron set an all-time record for total deployments by a Marine squadron aboard aircraft carriers and became the first Marine unit to conduct night operations aboard USS Enterprise during the Cuban Missile Crisis. In June 1965, their A-4 Skyhawks were the first tactical fixed-wing aircraft to land at Chu Lai, Vietnam. Transitioning to the A-6 Intruder, VMA(AW)-225 deployed to Da Nang for all-weather strike and Ho Chi Minh Trail interdiction. Reactivated in 1991 flying the F/A-18D Hornet, VMFA(AW)-225 was the first Marine fighter squadron deployed to the Middle East for Operation Iraqi Freedom in January 2003. Now VMFA-225, flying the F-35B Lightning II from MCAS Yuma.
