**Officially Licensed USMC VMFA-513 Flying Nightmares Sticker — Marine Fighter Attack Squadron Vinyl Sticker**

The Flying Nightmares — Korea's only night fighters, Vietnam's first Marine jets in country, and the first Marine Harrier squadron. VMFA-513 owned the night.

VMFA-513, the "Flying Nightmares," was commissioned as VMF-513 on February 15, 1944, at Oak Grove, North Carolina. The nickname was coined by CO LtCol James R. Anderson in March 1951 during the Korean War, when the squadron — flying 15 F7F Tigercats and 15 black-painted F4U-5N Corsairs from Pusan West — provided the sole night fighter air defense and interdiction support for all UN forces, logging 2,086 hours in 604 night combat sorties in a single month. The Nightmares transitioned to F-4B Phantoms and deployed to Da Nang in 1965, supporting Operation Starlite — the first major American ground operation of the Vietnam War. In 1971, VMA-513 became the first Marine Corps squadron to receive the AV-8A Harrier, operating the jump jet through Desert Storm, OEF, and OIF before deactivation in 2013. The legacy continues as VMFAT-502 flying F-35Bs.
