VMFA-451 "Warlords" was a Marine fighter attack squadron that operated the F-4 Phantom II during the Cold War era, maintaining combat readiness for rapid deployment to global hotspots. The Warlords were part of the formidable Marine Phantom community that deployed aboard aircraft carriers or to expeditionary airfields, providing air superiority and close air support for the Marine Air-Ground Task Force. The Phantom was perfectly suited to Marine requirements — powerful, versatile, and capable of operating from carrier decks and short austere runways alike. VMFA-451 was deactivated as part of the transition from the Phantom to newer platforms.
