**Officially Licensed USMC VMFA-323 Death Rattlers Sticker — Marine Fighter Attack Squadron Vinyl Sticker**

VMFA-323 Death Rattlers — 124 enemy planes shot down at Okinawa without a single loss. Twelve aces in one squadron. Three of them made ace in a single day. That's not a squadron, that's a force of nature.

Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 323 (VMFA-323), the "Death Rattlers," was commissioned on 1 August 1943 at MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina, getting their name after three fighter pilots killed a six-foot rattlesnake and hung its skin in the ready room. Training in F4U Corsairs, the squadron deployed to Kadena Airfield on Okinawa in April 1945, where they racked up 124 aerial kills without a single loss to enemy pilots — the highest total of any squadron during the Battle of Okinawa. The Death Rattlers fought in Korea from USS Badoeng Strait, supporting the Pusan Perimeter and Chosin Reservoir, then transitioned through F9F Panthers, FJ-4 Furys, F8U Crusaders, and F-4 Phantoms. In Vietnam, VMFA-323 flew over 17,000 combat sorties from Da Nang and Chu Lai between 1965 and 1969. Transitioning to F/A-18 Hornets in 1982, the Death Rattlers made history as the last Marine legacy Hornet squadron to deploy with a carrier air wing, returning from their final Hornet deployment in 2021.
