**Officially Licensed USMC VMFA-122 Werewolves Sticker — Marine Fighter Attack Squadron Vinyl Sticker**

The Werewolves — Guadalcanal aces under Pappy Boyington, the Corps' first jet squadron, and now flying the F-35B Lightning II. VMFA-122 has been making history since 1942.

VMFA-122, the "Werewolves," was commissioned on March 1, 1942, at Camp Kearny, California. Originally the "Candystripers," the squadron quickly adopted the Werewolves moniker before deploying to Guadalcanal with F4F Wildcats. Under the command of Major Gregory "Pappy" Boyington in April 1943, VMF-122 transitioned to the F4U Corsair and accounted for 35½ kills. Deactivated after WWII and reactivated in 1947, the Werewolves became the first Marine squadron to employ jet-propelled aircraft with the FH-1 Phantom, forming the Marines' first and only aerial demonstration team. The squadron flew F-8 Crusaders, F-4 Phantoms in Vietnam (including the Siege of Khe Sanh), and F/A-18 Hornets before transitioning to the F-35B Lightning II at MCAS Yuma in 2018.
