**Official VMFA-112 Cowboys WWII Wolf Throwback Sticker — Marine Reserve Fighter Attack Squadron Vinyl Sticker**
VMFA-112 — before they were Cowboys, they were the Wolfpack. 140 Japanese aircraft destroyed in WWII, third among all Marine squadrons. This throwback insignia honors the fangs that earned the kills on Guadalcanal.
Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 112 (VMFA-112) was originally activated as VMF-112 on 1 March 1942 at San Diego, California. Known then as the "Wolfpack," the squadron deployed to Henderson Field on Guadalcanal with F4F Wildcats as part of the Cactus Air Force under Marine Aircraft Group 11. After transitioning to F4U Corsairs, VMF-112 returned to combat aboard USS Bennington in late 1944. By war's end, the Wolfpack was credited with 140 aerial kills — ranking third among all Marine Corps squadrons. Lieutenant Jefferson DeBlanc earned the Medal of Honor for heroic action during the Solomon Islands campaign while serving with VMF-112. In 1967, the squadron adopted the "Cowboys" nickname after relocating to NAS Dallas, Texas, redesigning their insignia to reflect the local Dallas Cowboys. This WWII Wolf throwback sticker pays tribute to the original Wolfpack heritage.
