VMFA-112 Cowboys Flightline Qual Patch - Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 112 (VMFA-112) Cowboys F/A-18 Hornet Flightline Qualification Embroidered Patch with hook and loop backing.
Cowboys pride, Fort Worth flight line standards, and Marine Reserve fighter-attack identity earned one qualification at a time.
VMFA-112, the Cowboys, is a Marine Corps Reserve fighter attack squadron based at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, Texas, operating under Marine Aircraft Group 41 and the 4th Marine Aircraft Wing. The squadron traces its roots to March 1942, when it was activated as VMF-112 and deployed to Henderson Field on Guadalcanal, where it flew F4F Wildcats as part of the Cactus Air Force and earned 140 confirmed aerial victories against Japanese aircraft, ranking third among all Marine Corps squadrons in the war. The Cowboys received the Presidential Unit Citation for their Guadalcanal service and produced a Medal of Honor recipient in Lieutenant Jefferson J. DeBlanc. After transitioning through the F4U Corsair, F9F Panther, F-8 Crusader, and F-4 Phantom II, the squadron adopted the F/A-18 Hornet in 1992 and has maintained front-line operational standards ever since. The Cowboys were the first Reserve squadron to deploy on a Western-Pacific exercise since the Korean War, deployed to Al Asad Air Base in Iraq in 2009 as the last fighter attack squadron to leave that conflict, and have twice earned the Hanson Award as Fighter Squadron of the Year. A flightline qualification patch marks the specific standard that pilots, aircrew, and maintainers must meet to operate safely on and around the Cowboys flight line, making it a meaningful credential piece within the squadron community.
Perfect For: VMFA-112 Cowboys veterans and alumni, Marine Reserve aviation collectors, F/A-18 Hornet pilots and maintainers, MAG-41 and 4th Marine Aircraft Wing supporters, NASJRB Fort Worth military community members, flightline qualification milestone keepsakes, shadow boxes, patch panels, deployment displays, reunion gifts, and anyone building a serious Marine fighter attack squadron collection that honors both World War II Pacific heritage and modern Reserve combat readiness.
Cowboys heritage, flight line qualified, stitched for the board and the shadow box.
