VMF(AW)-235 "Death Angels" was a Marine all-weather fighter squadron whose lineage connects to today's VMFA-235. The Death Angels operated radar-equipped fighters for night and all-weather interception, protecting Marine forces from enemy air attack in conditions that grounded day fighters. The "Death Angels" nickname captured the lethal nature of all-weather fighter operations — the enemy couldn't see them coming, but the Death Angels could always find their targets.
