Officially Licensed USMC VMF-223 Fighting Bulldogs Patch — Marine Fighter Squadron 223 Guadalcanal-Era Embroidered Patch

The Fighting Bulldogs — VMF-223 at Henderson Field, Guadalcanal.

VMF-223 "Fighting Bulldogs" was one of the first Marine fighter squadrons to arrive at Henderson Field on Guadalcanal in August 1942, flying F4F Wildcats against the Japanese air armada attacking the island. VMF-223 and VMF-224 bore the brunt of the air defense during the critical early weeks of the Guadalcanal campaign, when losing the airfield would have meant losing the island. Captain Marion Carl of VMF-223 became one of the Marine Corps' first aces at Guadalcanal.

Perfect For:
VMF-223 Fighting Bulldogs veterans and descendants, Guadalcanal air battle historians, Marion Carl legacy enthusiasts, and USMC WWII legendary squadron patch collectors.

Fighting Bulldogs. Guadalcanal. Henderson Field.
