**VMCJ-3 Sharkfins Sticker — Marine Composite Reconnaissance Squadron Vinyl Sticker**

Sharkfin — the codename for VMCJ-3's Cold War electronic reconnaissance missions along the periphery of North Korea, Russia, and China. The Sharkfins pioneered Marine Corps tactical EW.

VMCJ-3 was commissioned on December 12, 1955, at MCAS El Toro, California, merging VMC-3 and VMJ-3 to consolidate 3rd MAW's electronic warfare and photo reconnaissance capabilities into a single squadron. The squadron inherited two prototype F3D-2 Skyknights being converted to the EW "Q" variant — the Marine Corps' first tactical jet electronic warfare platform. Deploying to MCAS Iwakuni in 1958, VMCJ-3 initiated the Peacetime Aerial Reconnaissance Program's "Sharkfin" electronic intelligence missions, flying along the borders of Cold War adversaries. The squadron transitioned through RF-9F Cougars, RF-8A Crusaders, and RF-4B Phantom IIs while maintaining the EF-10B and EA-6A for electronic warfare. VMCJ-3 supported combat operations in Vietnam and was decommissioned in 1975, its assets forming the nucleus of VMFP-3.
