VMA(AW)-332 "Moonlighters" — the same squadron that also carried the "Polka Dots" nickname — wore this identity that more directly reflected their night-attack mission. "Moonlighters" captured the essence of all-weather attack aviation: flying strike missions by moonlight, using the A-6E Intruder's advanced systems to hit targets that no other Marine aircraft could reach in darkness.
