The Green Knights — VMA-121's attack squadron identity from the jet attack era.
VMA-121 "Green Knights" was a Marine attack squadron with a combat lineage stretching from World War II through the jet age. The Green Knights flew A-4 Skyhawks in Vietnam, delivering close air support and interdiction strikes in some of the most heavily defended areas of South Vietnam and along the Ho Chi Minh Trail. The squadron later transitioned to the AV-8B Harrier II, operating the revolutionary STOVL jet from expeditionary airfields and amphibious ships. VMA-121 eventually redesignated as VMFA-121, becoming the first operational F-35B Lightning II squadron in the Marine Corps.
