Official VFA-105 Gunslingers Mini Knight name tag patch.
Knight on the chest — Gunslingers in F/A-18Es out of Oceana.
Strike Fighter Squadron 105 (VFA-105), the "Gunslingers," is a U.S. Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet strike fighter squadron based at Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia, deployed as part of Carrier Air Wing THREE (CVW-3). The squadron was established on April 4, 1968 at NAS Cecil Field, Florida flying the A-7A Corsair II as VA-105, deployed in the A-7E variant aboard USS Saratoga and USS Independence throughout the 1970s and 1980s, and transitioned to the F/A-18C Hornet in 1990 — taking the new "Gunslingers" call sign and the cowboy-knight squadron heraldry that's been the Mini Knight design ever since. After NAS Cecil Field closed in the 1999 BRAC, VFA-105 relocated to NAS Oceana, transitioned to the F/A-18E Super Hornet in 2006, and has flown continuous combat operations from the deck of USS Theodore Roosevelt, USS Harry S. Truman, USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, and USS Gerald R. Ford in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, Inherent Resolve, and the post-2023 Red Sea / Houthi engagements. The Mini Knight patch is the Gunslingers' miniature flight-suit/name-tag version of the squadron knight — a piece every Gunslinger pilot, RIO/ECMO replacement, maintainer, and Sailor stitches on. This is the patch that runs the chest and the name tags.
Perfect For: VFA-105 Gunslingers active-duty and veteran personnel, F/A-18E Super Hornet pilots and maintainers, NAS Oceana Sailors, CVW-3 carrier air wing personnel, A-7 Corsair II heritage enthusiasts, NAS Cecil Field alumni, and East Coast strike fighter community collectors.
