**Officially Licensed US Navy VF-102 Diamondbacks Sticker — Fighter Squadron Vinyl Sticker**

VF-102 Diamondbacks — the squadron that got shot at by Libyan SAMs, dropped more ordnance in Afghanistan than any other Tomcat unit, and still came home to transition into the Super Hornet. That's range.

VF-102, the "Diamondbacks," was established on 1 July 1955 at NAS Jacksonville, Florida. The squadron's first aircraft was the McDonnell F2H Banshee, followed by the Douglas F4D Skyray and the F-4 Phantom II, which VF-102 flew for twenty years. In 1981, the Diamondbacks transitioned to the F-14A Tomcat and added the TARPS photo reconnaissance mission to their fighter role. During the 1986 Libya operations, a VF-102 Tomcat was first to be fired upon by a Libyan SA-5 missile during Operation Attain Document, and the squadron flew cover for Operation El Dorado Canyon. Following 9/11, VF-102 deployed aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt and flew over 5,000 combat hours in Afghanistan, dropping 680 bombs — more than any other F-14 unit during the campaign. The Diamondbacks were redesignated VFA-102 in March 2002, transitioned to the F/A-18F Super Hornet, and remain active today forward-deployed in Japan.
