**Officially Licensed US Navy VA-43 Challengers Sticker — Attack Squadron Vinyl Sticker**

VA-43 Challengers — the fleet replacement squadron that trained every Atlantic Fleet A-4 Skyhawk pilot, then flipped the script and became the East Coast’s premier adversary unit flying F-16N Vipers and Israeli Kfirs against Navy fighters.

VA-43 traces its roots to Fighter Squadron VF-74A, established on May 1, 1945. After a series of redesignations — VF-74, VF-1B, then VF-21 — the unit was redesignated Attack Squadron 43 (VA-43) on July 1, 1959, and adopted the "Challengers" nickname in 1961. As a fleet replacement squadron at NAS Oceana, VA-43 trained Atlantic Fleet pilots on the F11F Tiger and then the A-4 Skyhawk, turning out combat-ready attack aviators for the fleet. In June 1973, the squadron was redesignated VF-43 and transformed into an adversary squadron, simulating enemy tactics to sharpen Navy fighter pilots. Flying an exotic mix of A-4 Skyhawks, T-38 Talons, F-16N Fighting Falcons, and F-21A Kfirs — an Israeli-built Mirage variant — VF-43 became one of the Navy’s most unique and respected training units. The squadron was disestablished on July 1, 1994, with its mission absorbed by VFC-12.
