USS Hancock (CV/CVA-19) was commissioned in 1944 as an Essex-class aircraft carrier. The ship earned distinction across three major conflicts — World War II in the Pacific, the Korean War, and multiple deployments to Vietnam. Hancock operated as an attack carrier throughout the Vietnam War, launching thousands of combat sorties from Yankee Station. The carrier was decommissioned in 1976 after more than three decades of distinguished service.
