Officially Licensed US Navy USS Florida SSBN-728 Patch — United States Navy Fleet Ballistic Missile Submarine USS Florida (SSBN-728) Embroidered Patch
USS Florida SSBN-728 — the Sunshine State's nuclear deterrent.
USS Florida (SSBN-728) is an Ohio-class submarine originally commissioned as a fleet ballistic missile submarine carrying Trident submarine-launched ballistic missiles. Named after the state of Florida, the submarine served as part of America's nuclear triad during the final decades of the Cold War and beyond.
USS Florida was one of the four Ohio-class submarines later converted from the SSBN ballistic missile configuration to the SSGN guided missile submarine configuration, transforming her 24 Trident missile tubes into launchers for up to 154 Tomahawk cruise missiles. This conversion gave Florida enormous conventional strike capability while also adding the ability to support Navy SEAL special operations forces through converted missile tube lockout chambers. Whether in her original SSBN configuration carrying nuclear deterrent missiles or her converted SSGN role providing massive conventional strike power, USS Florida has served as one of the most capable and versatile warships in the submarine fleet. This patch represents the submarine's original SSBN configuration and ballistic missile deterrent mission.
This patch honors USS Florida's SSBN service.
Perfect For: USS Florida SSBN/SSGN-728 crew members, Ohio-class submarine veterans, nuclear deterrence historians, and ballistic missile submarine patch collectors.
