USS Colorado BB-45 Patch — Colorado-Class Battleship Embroidered Patch
The Silver State's dreadnought — USS Colorado.
USS Colorado (BB-45) was a Colorado-class battleship that served the United States Navy from 1923 through the end of World War II. As one of the "Big Seven" battleships allowed under the Washington Naval Treaty, Colorado was among the most powerful warships in the world during the interwar period, armed with eight 16-inch guns that could devastate any target within range.
USS Colorado's World War II service was extensive and distinguished. After surviving the opening months of the war (she was undergoing overhaul at Puget Sound on December 7, 1941, and thus escaped the Pearl Harbor attack), Colorado went on to participate in numerous Pacific campaigns. She provided devastating naval gunfire support during the landings at Tarawa, Kwajalein, Saipan, Guam, Leyte Gulf, and Okinawa. At Leyte Gulf in November 1944, Colorado took multiple kamikaze hits that killed and wounded dozens of her crew, but the tough old battleship fought on and returned to service after repairs. She earned seven battle stars for her wartime service.
This patch honors the crew of BB-45 and the proud tradition of American battleship warfare.
Perfect For: USS Colorado (BB-45) descendants and historians, World War II battleship enthusiasts, Colorado-class warship collectors, and U.S. Navy capital ship fans.
Seven battle stars strong — BB-45.
