This is a 3.75" patch.

In the early 1970s, the Marine Corps was seriously considering the F-14 as a replacement for its fleet of F-4s. Although without peer in the air-role, the F-14 couldn't fulfill the air-ground mission as needed, so the Marine Corps held off until the F-18 came along in the early 1980's.

It was a design put forward by Grumman as part of their marketing plan for the Tomcat to the Marine Corps.

USMC F-14 Tomcat Patch — Marine Corps Tomcat Heritage Embroidered Patch

The Tomcat and the Marines — because even Marines appreciate the greatest fighter jet ever built.

While the F-14 Tomcat was a Navy aircraft, the Marine Corps had a deep connection to carrier-based fighter aviation and the Tomcat's legacy. This USMC F-14 Tomcat patch celebrates the crossover appeal of the F-14 within the Marine aviation community and the enduring legacy of the world's most iconic fighter jet.
