**Officially Licensed US Navy VA-76 Spirits Sticker — Attack Squadron Vinyl Sticker**

VA-76 Spirits — the "Fighting Spirits of '76" scored an air-to-air kill with an unguided ZUNI rocket. That's a Skyhawk pilot who refused to lose.

VA-76, the "Spirits," was established on June 1, 1955, at NAS Oceana, Virginia. Named after the "Fighting Spirits of '76" — a nod to the American Revolution — the squadron flew F2H Banshees, F9F Cougars, and A-4 Skyhawks from carriers including USS Forrestal, USS Enterprise, USS Intrepid, and USS Bon Homme Richard. The Spirits operated off the Azores during the 1956 Suez Crisis, participated in the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis aboard USS Enterprise, and flew armed reconnaissance during the 1965 Dominican Civil War. VA-76 deployed twice to Vietnam, flying A-4C Skyhawk strike missions with CVW-9 and CVW-21. On May 1, 1967, LCDR Ted Swartz used unguided ZUNI rockets to shoot down a MiG-17 over Kep Airfield — the only MiG kill scored by an A-4 during the war. VA-76 was disestablished on September 30, 1969.
