**Officially Licensed US Navy VA-106 Gladiators Sticker — Attack Squadron Vinyl Sticker**
VA-106 Gladiators — WWII aces who helped sink the Yamato, survived the USS Forrestal fire, and flew two combat tours over Vietnam. From Hellcats to Skyhawks, the Gladiators earned every scar.
VA-106, the "Gladiators," traces its lineage to Bomber-Fighter Squadron VBF-17, established on January 2, 1945, at Agana Airfield, Guam. Flying F6F Hellcats from USS Hornet, the squadron participated in strikes against Tokyo, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa, and helped sink the super-battleship Yamato in April 1945. Redesignated VA-106 in 1955, the Gladiators transitioned through F2H Banshees, F9F Cougars, and A-4 Skyhawks. During their first Vietnam deployment aboard USS Forrestal in July 1967, the devastating flight deck fire killed eight VA-106 personnel and injured 62. The Gladiators returned to combat aboard USS Intrepid in 1968, flying A-4E Skyhawk strike missions for over six months. VA-106 was disestablished in November 1969, and the Gladiator name was later revived for VFA-106, the Navy's East Coast F/A-18 Fleet Replacement Squadron.
