The US Navy IDECM (Integrated Defensive Electronic Countermeasures) program patch represents one of the most critical electronic warfare systems protecting Navy tactical aircraft. IDECM is an integrated suite of defensive systems designed to detect, identify, and defeat radar-guided threats — from surface-to-air missiles to airborne interceptors — by combining advanced electronic jamming with expendable countermeasures.
The IDECM system is installed on F/A-18E/F Super Hornets and EA-18G Growlers, providing an automated defensive capability that can detect incoming radar threats and deploy the appropriate countermeasures without pilot input. The system includes the AN/ALQ-214 Radio Frequency Countermeasures (RFCM) set and the ALE-55 Fiber Optic Towed Decoy (FOTD), which together create a layered defense that can confuse, seduce, and defeat the most advanced radar-guided threats in the world. The IDECM program represents the cutting edge of electronic warfare technology, developed and managed by Navy program offices working with defense industry partners to ensure American naval aviators always have the best possible protection against enemy air defenses.
