Officially Licensed US Navy Official HM-14 Vanguard Patch — Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron 14 Embroidered Patch

The Vanguard — clearing the path through the world's most dangerous waters.

Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron 14 (HM-14), the "Vanguard," is a U.S. Navy mine countermeasures squadron that operates the MH-53E Sea Dragon — the largest and most powerful helicopter in the Navy's inventory — to detect and neutralize naval mines that threaten freedom of navigation in the world's waterways. Based at NAS Norfolk, Virginia, HM-14 provides the airborne mine countermeasures capability that allows the fleet to operate in waters where enemy mines would otherwise deny access.

Mine warfare is one of the oldest and most persistent threats in naval combat. A single mine can sink a warship, close a shipping lane, or deny access to an entire port. HM-14's MH-53E Sea Dragon crews tow mine countermeasures sleds through suspected minefields, using acoustic, magnetic, and mechanical systems to detect and neutralize mines without putting surface ships at risk. The Vanguard has deployed to the Persian Gulf, Mediterranean, and other critical waterways where the mine threat is highest, ensuring that American and allied naval forces can operate freely. HM-14's mission may be the most unsung in naval aviation, but it is absolutely essential to projecting sea power.

Perfect For:
HM-14 Vanguard personnel and veterans, MH-53E Sea Dragon crews, mine countermeasures community members, NAS Norfolk aviators, and US Navy mine warfare patch collectors.

Vanguard. Clearing the path.
