Official VMFA-211 Wake Island Avengers F-35B Shoulder Patch — Fifth Gen, First to Fight
From Wildcats at Wake to Lightning IIs over Afghanistan — the Avengers never stop.
VMFA-211 "Wake Island Avengers" flies the F-35B Lightning II out of MCAS Yuma, Arizona, under MAG-13 and the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. The squadron's name immortalizes the heroic defense of Wake Island in December 1941, where VMF-211 Marines fought to the last in their Grumman Wildcats against overwhelming Japanese forces. Today's VMFA-211 carries that legacy into the fifth-generation era — and they've already made history doing it. In September 2018, a VMFA-211 F-35B operating from USS Essex conducted the first-ever U.S. combat strike with the F-35, dropping a precision-guided bomb on a Taliban position in Afghanistan. The squadron has also deployed aboard HMS Queen Elizabeth alongside the Royal Air Force's 617 Squadron, making it one of the most internationally deployed F-35 units in the world. This shoulder patch is the daily wear for Avengers who carry 80 years of Marine Corps aviation heritage on their flight suits.
Perfect For: VMFA-211 Wake Island Avengers Marines and veterans, F-35B Lightning II community, MCAS Yuma squadrons, MAG-13 personnel, Marine fighter attack aviators, and anyone who knows that the Avengers earned their name the hard way.
