Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 764 (VMM-764), the Moonlighters, is a Marine Corps Reserve squadron that transitioned from the CH-46E Sea Knight ("Phrog") to the MV-22B Osprey. This throwback patch honors VMM-764's heritage during the HMM-764 Sea Knight era, when Reserve Marines earned the "Moonlighters" nickname by flying their military missions at night and on weekends while holding civilian careers during the day. The transition to the Osprey represented a generational leap in capability, but the Moonlighters' identity remains rooted in the citizen-warrior tradition of Reserve Marines who burn the midnight oil to stay combat-ready.
