Officially Licensed US Navy VAQ-141 Shadowhawks Squadron Stickers — Forward-Deployed Electronic Attack From the Western Pacific
The Shadowhawks don't deploy to Japan. They live there. And they've been ready to fight from Day One.
Electronic Attack Squadron 141 (VAQ-141) — the 'Shadowhawks' — is the United States Navy's only permanently forward-deployed electronic attack squadron, based at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, and flying the EA-18G Growler as part of Carrier Air Wing 5 aboard USS Ronald Reagan. Established in July 1987 at NAS Whidbey Island as the twelfth operational EA-6B Prowler squadron, the Shadowhawks embarked aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt for the carrier's maiden cruise in 1989 and deployed in early 1991 in support of Operation Desert Storm. The squadron flew combat over Bosnia during Operations Deny Flight and Deliberate Force — including providing SEAD coverage for the successful rescue of downed Air Force pilot Captain Scott O'Grady — flew over 740 combat missions during Operation Allied Force over Kosovo, provided electronic attack during the opening stages of Operation Enduring Freedom after September 11, and led initial attacks on Baghdad during the Iraq War. In 2011, the Shadowhawks conducted the first-ever combat operations of the EA-18G Growler from sea. The squadron relocated to Japan in 2012 as the Navy's forward-deployed electronic attack asset, providing persistent electronic warfare presence in the Indo-Pacific. This sticker represents the Shadowhawks and their unique forward-deployed mission.
Perfect For: VAQ-141 Shadowhawks aircrew and maintainers past and present, MCAS Iwakuni and CVW-5 personnel, EA-18G Growler community members, forward-deployed naval forces veterans, and anyone who has served with the Shadowhawks.
