VMR-152 "Sumos" was the transport squadron designation that preceded VMGR-152, before the Marine Corps added the aerial refueling mission to its transport squadrons. In the VMR era, the Sumos operated transport variants of the Hercules, providing cargo and troop transport across the Western Pacific. This patch preserves the Sumos' transport-era identity.
