These specialists handle the most dangerous substances on the air station — from jet fuel spills and hydraulic fluid releases to chemical hazards — ensuring that the flight line stays safe and operational.
MCAS New River, home to MAG-26 and MAG-29, is one of the busiest Marine Corps rotary wing air stations in the world. With dozens of MV-22 Ospreys, CH-53E Super Stallions, AH-1Z Vipers, and UH-1Y Venoms operating daily, the potential for hazardous material incidents is constant. The HAZMAT Response Team is a specialized unit of trained Marines and civilian personnel who respond to chemical spills, fuel leaks, ordnance incidents, and environmental emergencies. Their rapid response capability protects both personnel and the environment while keeping flight operations running.
