MCAS Iwakuni is the forward-deployed fixed-wing powerhouse of Marine aviation in the Western Pacific. From F-35Bs to F/A-18s to EA-18G Growlers, the strike power of Marine and Navy aviation in Japan operates from this air station on the shores of the Seto Inland Sea. This officially licensed patch represents service at one of the most strategically important air stations in the Indo-Pacific.
Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, located in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan, is the primary base for Marine and Navy tactical aviation in the Western Pacific. The air station hosts Marine Aircraft Group 12, which operates F-35B Lightning IIs, F/A-18 Hornets, and other tactical aircraft that provide the strike component of the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing. MCAS Iwakuni also hosts Navy carrier air wing squadrons, creating a powerful combined air combat capability that supports the defense of Japan and deterrence operations across the Indo-Pacific.
