Officially Licensed Marine Aviation Training Squadron MATSG-42 Patch — Where Reserve Meets Ready
Because somebody has to make sure the pipeline keeps producing pilots, and MATSG-42 does it on drill weekends.
Marine Aviation Training Support Group 42 (MATSG-42) is a Marine Corps Reserve unit based at NAS Pensacola, Florida, under the 4th Marine Aircraft Wing. The group's mission is to provide reserve component augmentation in direct support of active component Navy and Marine Corps aviation activities — sustaining the flow of qualified Naval Aviators, Naval Flight Officers, Naval Aircrewmen, and enlisted Marine aviation maintenance personnel. Originally commissioned in 1943 as Marine Base Defense Aircraft Group 42, the unit was redesignated as MATSG-42 around 2011 after MAG-42's deactivation, and now serves as a critical link in the Marine Corps Total Force concept from its home at the cradle of naval aviation.
Perfect For: MATSG-42 Marines and veterans, NAS Pensacola aviation training cadre, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing Reserve personnel, and anyone who keeps the training pipeline flowing.
MATSG-42. Reserve Marines, active mission.
