Officially Licensed USMC Marine Air Control Group 18 Patch - Marine Air Control Group 18 (MACG-18), the Pacific Gatekeepers of 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, officially licensed embroidered patch.
Pacific Gatekeepers, Western Pacific sentinels, and the command-and-control backbone that keeps Marine aviation coordinated, connected, and combat-ready across the III Marine Expeditionary Force. That identity was forged in combat and refined across five decades of forward-deployed Pacific readiness, making this emblem one of the more historically grounded pieces in Marine aviation collecting.
MACG-18 was formed on 1 September 1967 in Da Nang, Vietnam, with its component units already deeply involved in combat and its HAWK missile battalion among the first Marine units to land in-country. From its formation, the group and its subordinated units participated in every major campaign conducted in the northern area of South Vietnam until departure. For its service during the Vietnam Conflict, the group earned four Presidential Unit Citations, three Navy Unit Commendations, and a Meritorious Unit Commendation. After relocating to MCAS Iwakuni in 1971 and then to MCAS Futenma, Okinawa in 1975, MACG-18 took on a central role in joint and combined training and contingency operations across the Western Pacific, including participation in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Today the group provides the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing with command, control, and communications support for all six functions of Marine aviation through its component squadrons: Marine Air Support Squadron 2, Marine Air Control Squadron 4, Marine Wing Communications Squadron 18, Marine Tactical Air Command Squadron 18, and 1st Stinger Battery. That breadth of mission, spanning Vietnam combat origins through decades of forward-deployed Pacific readiness, gives this patch a lineage that goes well beyond a standard unit emblem.
Perfect For: MACG-18 veterans and active-duty Marines, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing collectors, III Marine Expeditionary Force supporters, Okinawa and MCAS Futenma alumni, Marine aviation command-and-control enthusiasts, shadow box builders, reunion attendees, deployment keepsake displays, challenge coin and patch board collectors, and family members who want a meaningful tribute to the Marines who keep Marine aviation connected and in control across the Pacific.
Pacific Gatekeepers heritage, stitched into every thread of this officially licensed emblem.
