Officially Licensed USMC HMM-561 Sticker — The Legacy of a Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron

HMM-561 carried Marines into the fight aboard helicopters that changed how the Corps wages war.

Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 561 (HMM-561) was a United States Marine Corps helicopter squadron with a distinguished history in the evolution of Marine rotary-wing aviation. The squadron was part of the Marine Corps' pioneering efforts to integrate helicopters into the Marine Air-Ground Task Force, developing the doctrine and tactics that would make helicopter-borne assault a cornerstone of Marine Corps operations. HMM squadrons flew the CH-46 Sea Knight — the tandem-rotor medium-lift helicopter that served as the Marine Corps' primary assault transport helicopter for over four decades, carrying Marines from ship to shore and across the battlefield in every major operation from Vietnam through the early 2000s. The CH-46 was the workhorse of Marine aviation, and the squadrons that flew it — including HMM-561 — developed the assault support doctrine that today's MV-22 Osprey tiltrotor squadrons continue to execute. HMM-561's Marines participated in the full spectrum of Marine operations — amphibious assaults, combat insertions, casualty evacuations, vertical replenishment, humanitarian relief, and the countless unglamorous logistics flights that keep the MAGTF moving. The squadron's legacy lives on in the traditions and tactics of the Marine medium tiltrotor squadrons that replaced the Sea Knight community. This sticker honors HMM-561 and the Marines who flew the Phrog.

Perfect For: HMM-561 Marines past and present, CH-46 Sea Knight pilots and crew chiefs, Marine medium helicopter community veterans, and anyone who served in a 'Phrog' squadron.
