Officially Licensed USMC 8th Communication Battalion Patch - United States Marine Corps 8th Communication Battalion (8th Comm), II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, officially licensed embroidered patch.
When the network goes up and the command element moves, 8th Comm is the battalion that makes it happen — keeping Marines connected across every environment and every spectrum of conflict.
Activated on 15 January 1951 at Camp Geiger, North Carolina, as the 2d Signal Operations Company, Fleet Marine Force Atlantic, the unit relocated to Camp Lejeune and was re-designated 8th Communication Battalion on 2 August 1954. Since then it has served as the principal communications battalion for II Marine Expeditionary Force, deploying task-organized, self-sustaining detachments capable of providing command, control, communications, and computer support to MAGTF commanders, MEU commanders, and joint and combined task force headquarters in any environment. The battalion's operational record spans the Landings in Lebanon, the Cuban Missile Crisis, Operation Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, and rotational deployments with the 22nd, 24th, and 26th Marine Expeditionary Units. Today the battalion establishes, maintains, and defends communication networks simultaneously for MAGTF command elements and Marine component headquarters, ensuring II MEF's ability to command and control forces wherever the mission demands. That depth of service gives this officially licensed embroidered patch a story worth displaying.
Perfect For: 8th Comm veterans and active-duty Marines, II MEF alumni, Camp Lejeune unit collectors, communications MOS community members, MEU deployment keepsakes, shadow boxes, patch boards, reunion gifts, and family members who want a respectful tribute to the Marines who keep command and control alive under pressure. It also suits serious USMC unit-history collectors building displays around II MEF, MAGTF communications heritage, and the quiet, essential work that makes every Marine operation possible.
8th Comm heritage, stitched in thread and carried by every Marine who ever kept the network alive.
