Officially Licensed US Navy ESB-7 USS Robert E. Simanek Patch - Lewis B. Puller-class Expeditionary Sea Base USS Robert E. Simanek (ESB-7) officially licensed embroidered patch.
Medal of Honor courage, expeditionary sea power, and the enduring Marine spirit that defines a ship and its namesake.
USS Robert E. Simanek (ESB-7) carries the name of Marine Corps Private First Class Robert Ernest Simanek, who on August 18, 1952, threw himself on an enemy grenade at Outpost Irene, Korea, to shield his fellow Marines of Company F, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division. Gravely wounded in the act, Simanek survived and was presented the Medal of Honor by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in a White House ceremony in 1953. The ship built in his honor is a 785-foot Lewis B. Puller-class Expeditionary Sea Base constructed by General Dynamics NASSCO in San Diego and delivered to the Navy in September 2024. As a mobile sea-based platform, ESB-7 supports mine countermeasures, special operations, unmanned aircraft surveillance, counter-piracy, humanitarian aid, and crisis response missions. Its four-spot flight deck accommodates V-22 Osprey aircraft, and its design centers on four core capabilities: aviation, berthing, equipment staging, and command and control. This officially licensed embroidered patch connects the ship's forward-deployed mission directly to the selfless valor of the Marine whose name it bears, making it a meaningful piece for anyone who follows Navy expeditionary history or the Medal of Honor legacy.
Perfect For: Navy veterans, ESB crew members and supporters, Korean War historians, Medal of Honor collectors, Marine Corps family members, naval history enthusiasts, shadow box displays, ship commissioning keepsakes, challenge coin and patch boards, and anyone building a collection around expeditionary sea base operations or the men and women whose courage earned a ship its name.
One name, one act of valor, one ship — stitched into a patch worth keeping.
