Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 361 (HMH-361) — the 'Flying Tigers' — is a United States Marine Corps heavy-lift helicopter squadron flying the CH-53E Super Stallion. The Flying Tigers name connects this squadron to one of the most iconic identities in American military aviation — originally made famous by the American Volunteer Group that flew P-40 Warhawks against the Japanese in China and Burma during World War II. HMH-361 carries that name forward in the heavy-lift helicopter community, providing the Marine Air-Ground Task Force with the ability to move the heaviest equipment, artillery, vehicles, and supplies from ship to shore and across the battlefield. The CH-53E Super Stallion is the largest helicopter in the American military inventory, and HMH-361 has deployed with the aircraft to Iraq, Afghanistan, and throughout the Indo-Pacific, providing the assault support that keeps the MAGTF moving. The Super Stallion can carry 16 tons of external cargo or 55 combat-equipped Marines, making it the cornerstone of Marine heavy-lift operations. This PVC patch represents the Flying Tigers and their heavy-lift mission.
