Commander, Fleet Readiness Centers (COMFRC) is the Navy's shore-based authority for depot and intermediate-level aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul. Established in 2006 under Base Realignment and Closure legislation, the command integrated Naval Air Depots and intermediate maintenance activities into a unified sustainment structure — one of the most significant reforms in Naval Aviation maintenance history. Operating Fleet Readiness Centers on the U.S. east and west coasts, in Japan, and at forward detachments including MCAS Cherry Point and MCAS Iwakuni, COMFRC fields more than 16,000 military, civilian, and contractor aviation maintenance professionals. The command delivers assured and affordable maintenance, repair, and overhaul products and services to the Navy, Marine Corps, and joint forces, working alongside NAVAIR Program Managers, logistics competencies, and commercial partners to sustain Naval Aviation Enterprise readiness. Its workforce provides the technical depth and industrial capacity that keep airframes, engines, components, and support equipment mission-capable across every major platform in the fleet. Forward-deployed combat repair teams extend that reach directly to the flight line, returning damaged aircraft to ready-for-tasking status wherever the mission demands.
