VX-30 Bloodhounds C-130 Shoulder Patch — Embroidered Patch
In Relentless Pursuit of Excellence — VX-30 Bloodhounds
They fly the oldest C-130s in active military service. They track missiles over the Pacific. They clear 36,000 square miles of ocean for weapons testing. VX-30 Bloodhounds is one of the most diverse and uniquely mission-critical squadrons in the United States Navy — and this C-130 shoulder patch represents the workhorse aircraft that makes much of their mission possible.
Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 30 (VX-30), nicknamed the Bloodhounds, is based at Naval Air Station Point Mugu, California. Established as the Naval Weapons Test Squadron Point Mugu on 8 May 1995 and redesignated VX-30 in May 2002, the squadron is the principal naval flight and ground test unit for all Point Mugu Naval Air Systems Command aircraft. VX-30 supports the Navy's Sea Test Range off the central California coast, providing range surveillance, area clearance, aerial refueling, airborne telemetry, and photometric support during missile and weapons system testing. The squadron flies C-130s — some dating back to 1957 — as aerial refueling platforms and range clearance aircraft, alongside P-3 Orions, E-2D Hawkeyes, and NC-20G Gulfstreams. VX-30's NP-3D aircraft even supported five NASA Space Shuttle missions using the Cast Glance optical system to monitor re-entry.
Perfect For: VX-30 veterans, C-130 Hercules enthusiasts, naval aviation test community members, Point Mugu personnel, and anyone who appreciates the squadrons that make the Navy's cutting-edge weapons work.
