Officially Licensed VMO-3 "Bee" Vietnam-era throwback vinyl sticker.
VMO-3 — the squadron that became Scarface. UH-1E Hueys at Phu Bai, 1967.
VMO-3 — Marine Observation Squadron 3 — was the U.S. Marine Corps observation squadron whose Vietnam War lineage gave the modern Marine Corps one of its most legendary helicopter squadrons: HMLA-367 "Scarface." The squadron was reactivated on August 1, 1966 and arrived in Vietnam in December 1966, becoming fully operational at Hué/Phu Bai on January 16, 1967 flying the UH-1E Huey. The original radio call sign was "Oakgate," but in summer 1967 — with Major Bill Murphy lobbying for the change — the squadron switched its call sign to "Scarface." In March 1968 VMO-3 was redesignated HML-367 (Marine Light Helicopter Squadron 367) and continued flying throughout I Corps in support of Marine and Army units, including Operations Medina, Fortress Ridge, Prairie Fire, Dewey Canyon, Apache Snow, and Lam Son 719, plus near-daily MACV-SOG cross-border reconnaissance missions into Laos. In December 1969 the squadron became the first operational Cobra squadron in the Marine Corps with the AH-1G, and on April 24, 1970 became the first helicopter squadron in Vietnam to achieve 100% aircraft availability — all 25 birds up — finishing FY1970 with 22,378 flight hours. Today's HMLA-367 (AH-1Z Viper / UH-1Y Venom out of MCAS Camp Pendleton) is the direct lineal descendant. This "Bee" throwback sticker is for the VMO-3 Vietnam crew. Outdoor-grade vinyl.
Perfect For: VMO-3 Vietnam War veterans, HMLA-367 Scarface active-duty and veteran personnel, AH-1G Cobra and UH-1E Huey heritage pilots, MACV-SOG cross-border veterans, I Corps Marine helicopter aviators, Marine light attack heritage enthusiasts, and Vietnam War helicopter sticker collectors.
